What can I expect when I arrive for my ultrasound training course?
Welcome to Las Colinas in the Dallas suburb of Irving. You’ve arrived in one of the safest communities in North America. Headquarters to Exxon/Mobil, Kimberly Clark, and Zale Jewelers, the area is the largest totally planned business and residential community in the D-FW area. The on-site learning atmosphere is perfect, and dozens of dining and entertainment options are no more than a mile away. Bring friends and family members , including your pet: all are welcome here.
Arrival
Just 20 minutes from both D-FW International Airport or Dallas Love Field, you’ll be in the center of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan community. Your newly renovated Hyatt House Suites hotel boasts the highest guest satisfaction in the entire Hyatt chain, worldwide. Your private suite is totally self-contained and is perfect for your learning experience: Complimentary hot breakfast is served daily and we’ll cater a light lunch daily to keep your momentum at maximum speed. Complimentary dinner is served in the Lobby Monday-Thursday. Half a dozen restaurants lie within a short walk and free shuttle service gets you to over a dozen more (up to 7 pm). In-room delivery dining is available with every one of them in the area. If you prefer, the staff will grocery shop for you to prepare in your own suite; you can even phone in your order ahead of arrival.
First Day
Your class begins at 9 am in the Lobby conference room. We’ll introduce ourselves, welcome you and lay out the rest of your course for you. From there your time will be divided into three segments: hands-on scanning, interactive classroom discussions & lectures, and independent after-hours practice. Our Scan Lab is located inside the hotel in a secured space so you can come and go at your leisure. The Formal part of each day ends by 4 pm and the Scan Lab is accessible around the clock.
Our hands-on instruction is built around each exam protocol, emphasizing normal anatomy and system controls to ensure a completely documented study. We all work together as a small group to ensure each one can understand every step. There are no time-limited or color-coded group assignments, so you won’t feel time pressure. At the end of each day’s lesson plan, you’re free to remain or return to the Scan Lab for independent practice alone or with your peers. We work with each other as models throughout the course except in our OB and TV courses. We’ve learned that this approach helps gain expertise with the challenges posed by anatomical variations and body types, and conveys the experience your own patients can expect. At every step, we’ll instruct you in the ways to differentiate normal from suspected abnormal states.
You’ll have a frequent and open discussion with your instructor and classmates as we explore your every question. Once we’ve established the foundation to protocol and normal pattern recognition we’ll begin to build on pathologies, using case examples to learn the stepwise process to analyze and communicate your findings.
After Class Time
After hours, the city offers a universe of shopping, dining, sports, and entertainment options. Dallas is one of the four largest fashion centers in the world, on par with New York, Paris, and Milan; your shopping options are exceeded only by London and New York. For culture, Dallas and Fort Worth are home to some of the world’s finest art, opera, and theatrical events. And it’s all home to the Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks, and Stars teams, so there will always be a game close by.
Last Day
Your departure day with us will be content-packed up until the adjourn hour, which can be found on the specific course page. At the conclusion, you’ll be issued your course documentation and our personal contact numbers for free post-conference support. You’ll also have forever access to our online Support Center, with color anatomy charts, worksheets, and soon our extended video learning library. We’ll continue our relationship from a distance with our Newsletter and upcoming Alumni Community Site where we can share ideas, opportunities, and stories forever.
Departure
If you’re flying, you can prearrange shuttle, taxi, or even private limo service from your hotel; plan to leave at least 2 hours prior to departure. You’ll be pleased with the ease of check-in and security access at either airport.
