Quality Education Starts With a Quality Team
Keith Mauney Founder, Program Director, Principal Instructor
He began his career in health care as Registered Nurse in 1972. He entered the field of cardiovascular care in its early days, working alongside major pioneers in the fields of cardiovascular medicine in North Carolina. He later moved into the neurovascular field and opened the nation’s second stroke interdiction clinic in 1978, pioneering real time vascular imaging in clinical use. In 1981 he relocated to Dallas to open the Clinical Vascular Laboratory at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, where he engineered the program you are now attending today.
It began as an outreach of the university and was cloned under his direction in association with Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, University of Illinois in Chicago, and University of California-Los Angeles. In 1987 the program was cleaved from the university systems and has remained a commercially and academically independent Institute. Keith has delivered tens of thousands of lectures before an international audience of physicians, technologists, engineers, and business executives.
He’s worked with every kind of clinician, every major ultrasound manufacturer as an educational and design consultant, and has served the office of the United States President and Congress at their invitations—twice. He is known internationally for his nontraditional approach to teaching the most obscure clinical subjects in a simple, memorable and practical way.
Tara Cambell-Mauney Director of Cardiovascular Diagnostics
Tara began her career in the legal field, managing a law practice from an early age. With an education in nursing as well, she developed and directed the largest cardiology practice in Nashville, Tennessee, increasing its revenue over 4,000% in less than two years. Her approach to echocardiography is direct, clear, and immediately to the point. She cuts through academic clutter and theory to bedrock in minutes and imparts an approach you’ll never stray from. For these reasons she has been sought to train such groups as the entire engineering Team at Philips Ultrasound and the critical care attending faculty at Harvard Medical School. You will find in her an instant and lifelong friend whose lessons will never fade.
Marlicia Vargas Women’s Care and OB/GYN Specialist
Marley began her ultrasound career with us twenty years ago. She’s deeply accomplished in maternal/fetal ultrasound, abdominal, and vascular imaging. Her approach to OB ultrasound is most methodical and her approach is low key. She is a vital expert in knobology and a master of the hands-on aspect of our courses.
Glen Jennings Director of Marketing & Sales
Glen is the newest, but by no means an any less significant member of our team. He is a remarkable man whose genetics and countenance have formed a remarkable man, that of a contemporary Paul Bunyan. He is delightfully “old school” in his etiquette, demeanor, and service, and it is quite refreshing. He’s not the sort that will pick the low fruit or shake the tree and see what falls, he will stand there and chop away at it, fell it, and bring them all to the table. He has a core of granite, is indefatigable, and is our champion diplomat and liaison here at Keith Mauney & Associates.
Six other clinical professionals representing several hundred years of collective clinical experience constitute the core of our organization. Other additional affiliate associates bring our collective number to two dozen.
Every one of our Team is still clinically active, involved in publication, and of course sharing through education. We’re all proud to be able to be among and with each of YOU.
